Motorola's National Sales Manager for 4DTV/C-Band Describes the State of C-Band Today
As a C-Band distributor, dealer, or consumer you are probably
asking yourself "What is the future of C-Band?" That is, of course,
an excellent
question, and one which Motorola would like to help answer.
About a month or so ago, the Access Control Center conference
in Dallas was held and Motorola presented a marketing plan to all the major
players in the C-band
business. Not only was the plan a hit, it was expanded and agreed upon by
an overwhelming majority of satellite industry players. Included in the marketing
efforts are plans to spend nearly half a million dollars on "infomercials"
to help remind C-Band owners about the advantages of the C-Band Master Broadcast
format. Additionally, a quarter of a million dollars will be spent to provide
a direct mail advertising vehicle for C-Band program packagers. And perhaps
most exciting of all, there is a wonderful offer by the NFL soon to be announced
to discount the NFL Sunday ticket season for C-Band owners during the 2001season
and a free preview period for those folks who haven't experienced the absolute
excitement of having the entire NFL visit your television every Sunday.
In addition, the DSR905 Digital Sidecar has proven to be a valuable
addition to the 4DTV family. In fact, it may be the neatest little thing to
hit C-Band
since some enterprising folks discovered that a big dish can bring you big
entertainment and big quality for a small investment.
In short, C-Band is alive and well. If you want to be part of
a REAL satellite community -- if you want to offer your friends and family
the best value, the greatest
picture quality, and the widest content selection available from any broadcast
media -- then you are in the right place. C-Band is, and always will be, spoken
here.
